And after everything that's been said and done, all the hype really wasn't worth it.
After the high expectations built by the phenomenal books of the Twilight series, I was actually disappointed about how the movie turned out. Okay, okay, maybe I'm not giving it enough credit, but really...the movie was obviously on a low budget, and the plot had been royally screwed. They even took out a character from the book! (Ben Chenney, guys. Where was Ben Chenney?)
I must admit though, the trailer was good. Good enough to make even non-fans of S. Meyer's book to take interest and buy tickets to the movie. I actually asked a few friends who have never read the Twilight series if they loved the movie. They actually did, and they couldn't wait to watch the next installment.
Hmm. Maybe I've got a twisted, weird taste for 'good' movies.
Still, the movie was not a total loss. Stewart was a good Bella, and although R. Pattinson didn't exactly personify Edward Cullen (I mean, he looked near to tears during the Port Angeles scene with the drunks), his acting was still above average. Slightly. I still felt like he was a bit stiff, the way he portrayed Cedric Diggory in the HP movies.
Best Scene(s): Baseball in the meadow (really cool)
Worst Scene(s): Ballet room (don't go all violent on me--it's my opinion!), and any other scene where the vampires were supposed to move really fast...on screen it looks like it was just fast forwarded. Lame.
Best Character Portrayed: Hmm...hard pick this. I'm going with Emmett and James.
Worst Character Portrayed: Eric. Don't even get me started. I mean, what was with the worm and the kid-on-sugar-high attitude?
Score: 2 1/2 out of 5
